So, I know I have been missing for a little while. Lol. I haven't been a very good blogger or commenter. Figured I would explain myself.
Monday: my lower leg was cramping and aching and I figured I had had a leg cramp in my sleep and just didn't remember.
Tuesday Night.: I started having chest pains though, and decided to go ahead and go to the ER. I get to the ER and they do an EKG, chest X-ray, and a CAT scan. They were worried about a blood clot since I had been having cramping and aching in my leg. The chest X-ray, CAT scan, and EKG all came back normal. They released me with a prescription to get an ultrasound on my leg to make sure there wasn't a blood clot in my leg. They also said to come back in if my chest pain got worse.
Wednesday: I mad a doctor's appointment and she did a urine test. It came back that I had either a UTI or bladder infection. She prescribed me antibiotics and told me to follow up in 6 weeks. Later on my chest was hurting really bad again so I headed back to the ER. They did another chest X-ray and said that there was no clot in my lungs or heart, and they though I had some inflammation of my ribs.
Thursday: Got my leg ultrasound. Later on I started breaking out in hives. Call my doctor and she says to go to the ER because it sounds like I am having an allergic reaction to my antibiotics. Go to the ER and they say it's definitely an allergic reaction. They prescribe me new antibiotics.
Friday: I start breaking out in hives again. I decide to just stop taking the new antibiotics too, just in case I'm allergic to them too.
Saturday Night: I notice I'm breaking out in a really weird rash. It isn't hives and it isn't raised at all. I call the on call doctor at my doctors office and he says go to the ER. So, I go. Sure enough, it's not an allergic reaction to the drugs, but a drug reaction. You know the fine print that says "These symptoms may result from taking this drug?" Yea, well I got one. It's called petechiae. Pretty much it causes broken capillary blood vessels and the blood is going under my skin. The ER doctor prescribed me steroids. I have to make another doctor's appointment for tomorrow. Hopefully we get this all straightened out.
Petechiae can be signs of something more serious, but the doctor said since I had just been on a new antibiotic and all my blood tests came back normal she thinks it is just a drug reaction. It can be a sign of Leukemia, lupus, H1N1, and all kinds of other yucky stuff.
So anyway, that's why I have been gone all week. 4 trips to the ER, a trip to the doctor, 3 trips to the pharmacy, and a trip to the hospital to get a leg ultrasound. :(
