You have NO IDEA how many people I see on Facebook saying that their doctor told them it is okay to FF their 9 month old just because they are 20 pounds.
You would think that a doctor would be aware of the dangers of doing so.
Not only is it 500% safer to rear face a child for as long as possible, it's also AGAINST THE LAW to forward face unless your child is BOTH 20 pounds AND 12 months old. Not either or.
Most convertible car seats rear face until 35 pounds. Even more are rear facing until 40 and even 45 pounds.
There is no such thing as your child's legs being too long to rear face. A child's joints aren't fully developed until they are older. (I can't find the exact age.) Anyway, that is why your child can fall asleep in the car with their head bent in a funny position without it hurting..
Either way - which would you rather... A broken leg from rear facing (Which is extremely rare) or a broken neck/internal decapitation from forward facing??

Like I say it's either cast it(a leg) or casket(broken neck).
ReplyDeleteI saw all these she posted on the MTV care about car seats fb page. I love them!
